Fine (and especially vintage / antique) jewellery is delicate and should be cared for appropriately. To extend the life of your jewellery and to keep it in the best condition, please follow the following care instructions:

• – Remove your jewellery before your daily activities such as showering, cooking, cleaning, etc.
• – Leave your jewellery at home before engaging in strenuous activates including going to the gym or playing any type of sport.
• – Keep your jewellery away from chemicals such as perfume, hair spray, cosmetics and lotion.
• – Before sleeping, lay your jewellery out flat.
• – For necklaces, clasp the necklace when removing it to ensure the chain will not tangle or knot.
• – Extra care should be taken with any fine jewellery that contains a pearl.
• – Gold-plated and silver items should not be worn in the shower or when swimming as the plating can wear off and tarnish.

To clean your diamond jewellery:

• – Fill a bowl with warm water and a drop of dish soap and let the item soak for a few minutes.
• – Using a soft tooth brush gently scrub the setting.

Extra care should be taken with coloured gemstones, in particular emeralds should not be placed in liquid at all. Pearls should not be cleaned with any chemicals, abrasives or solvents.

Personal ultrasonic cleaning machines are not recommended for two reasons:

• – They are very underpowered compared to the industrial units we have in the workshop and do little to clean the jewellery.
• – There is a very high risk of using them on stones which are not suitable for cleaning in ultrasonic devices or in cleaning solutions.

Since they have become popular and readily available we have had to send many stones for re-polishing after becoming hazy and dull.
